'City of Sheffield' takes to the rails

The Midland Mainline programme of naming Class 222 'Meridians' after the line of route continued on 29 March 2007 when the third unit to be so treated, No 222004, was unveiled at Sheffield City of Sheffield.

The unveiling was performed by the Lord Mayor of Sheffield, Councillor Jackie Drayton. The proceedings followed a champagne reception at the Supertram entrance to the station, after which the unit formed the 12.27 service to London St Pancras with the guests enjoying a light lunch onboard as far as Derby.
