‘One’ Railway advance ticket sales break the half million barrier |
|
The attractively priced ‘one’ Advance tickets introduced in June 2006 - with prices as low as £5 or £6 for one-way journeys to / from London - have proved a resounding success with rail passengers on the ‘one’ Mainline route between Norwich, Ipswich, Colchester and London. The tickets have been so popular that ‘one’ railway has revealed that the number of tickets issued has just passed the half-a-million barrier after only 9 months since the fares were introduced! The new fares have significantly increased the availability of cheaper tickets on off-peak trains and passengers have responded enthusiastically by travelling to London outside of the peak travel periods in increasing numbers. The demand for Advance Purchase tickets has more than doubled since ‘one’ introduced the new range of fares in 2006, which includes tickets priced at different levels according to the time of day and popularity of the service, thereby providing a wider choice for customers (including some good value First Class ticket prices as well). Theo Steel, Sales & Marketing Director for ‘one’ railway said, “The introduction of the ‘one’ Advance tickets and their popularity amongst our customers has far exceeded our expectations and is helping to build a new customer-base of passengers who are attracted by an excellent value fare and are able to be flexible in their journey planning. With the increasing importance of sustainable and environmentally-friendly transport options, these cheap tickets are encouraging customers to take the train whenever they can. We will continue to develop further innovative products that meet customer demand and enable us to make rail travel even more attractive.” |
