Class 24 See Technical Data

Displaying its original BR green livery, offset by a grey sole bar band and a mid grey roof, No. D5030, the first loco of the design built by Crewe Works stands in the yard at Crewe for its official picture in June 1959. The loco is viewed from its No. 2 or boiler end. CJM Collection.

Seen from its No. 1 end, No. D5051 is seen at Finsbury Park painted in BR standard green livery, grey roof, grey sole bar band and small yellow warning panel. It is perhaps this livery that the locos looked the most impressive. CJM Collection.

Class 24 front end detail. A-train reporting discs, B-red rear marker light, C-front communicating doors, D-blue star multiple control jumper socket, E-blue star multiple control jumper cable, F-engine control air pipe, G-engine control air pipe, H-vacuum brake pipe, I-steam heat pipe, J-coupling. CJM Collection.

Locos repainted after 1967 emerged in standard rail blue with full yellow ends, black underframe offset by the BR double arrow logo in white. No. 24081 is illustrated from its No. 1 end. It will be seen that this example has had its original nose end doors sealed up. CJM.
